Quality Management System

The Animal Health Diagnostic Laboratory (AHDL) is committed to provide consistent, dependable, and traceable test results to our clients assuring highest quality. To meet that goal, the AHDL utilizes a Quality Management System (QMS) to regularly engage in self-evaluation, reviews of operations, documentation, proficiency testing programs, and inter-laboratory comparison programs.  The goal of the QMS is to specify the policies and procedures for the AHDL to operate in compliance with the World Organization for Animal health (OIE) and ISO 17025 quality assurance requirements for the competence of testing laboratories.

The AHDL employs qualified veterinarians, scientists, and technicians. The staff is trained on and operates utilizing authorized standard operating procedures. The laboratory equipment is calibrated regularly to provide reliable output. Records are in place and updated regularly for all areas of the QMS. The AHDL regularly performs audits to ensure compliance with all facets of the QMS. Corrective actions are undertaken, formally documented, and clients notified, when the quality of our test results at any point do not meet the OIE and ISO 17025 requirements, allowing identification of the root cause and improvement to the QMS. The AHDL's QMS is approved by the National Animal Health Laboratory Network of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
